The palace and its park, built in the XVIIth century by Constantin Brâncoveanu and restored at the beginning of XXth century by Marthe Bibesco is one of the few green havens left near Bucharest. Patron of culture (he fostered the printing process by setting up the first printing press in Wallachia, overseen by Anthim the Iberian), the prince borrowed his name to the Brâncovenesc style, a synthesis of the Reinassance and Byzanthine styles. A witness to a cavalcade of historic events, the palace is now a retreat for art events and plein air wanderings.
